Rainbow City Performing Arts: Lights
November 24 @ 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm
Rainbow City Performing Arts is proud to announce its return to Benaroya Hall for a new season of concerts. Following a successful run last year, the organization will present three concerts: “Lights” on November 24th, “Camera” on March 9th, and “Action!” on June 6th. Each event will celebrate diverse voices and promote a joy-filled community experience. Our return to Benaroya Hall marks a significant milestone for Rainbow City Performing Arts, as we continue to bring together our vibrant community through music and celebration.
The “Lights” concert will feature a blend of soulful and uplifting pieces from both Rainbow City Orchestra and Rainbow City Concert Band, including Haydn’s “Die Vorstellung des Chaos” from The Creation, John Whitney’s “Light Rays”, Barbara Harbach’s “Luna and Stella” from The Sound the Stars Make Rushing Through the Sky, and the world premiere of Joshua A. Idio’s “Alone in a World of Light”. The concert band will perform dynamic works such as Alex Shapiro’s “Lights Out”, Randall Standridge’s “Unbroken”, Katahj Copley’s “Kaleidoscope Eyes”, and Nubia Jaime-Donjuan’s Little Mexican Suite.
Rainbow City Performing Arts is excited to introduce new activations this season, including a photo spot an interactive billboard showcasing how to get involved with the organization. They are also proud to partner with UW Medicine’s Office of Healthcare Equity, which works to promote fairness and inclusiveness in healthcare. This partnership allows Rainbow City to highlight the importance of equity and inclusion within both the healthcare sector and the arts community.
Rainbow City Performing Arts is dedicated to promoting visibility for LGBTQIA+ communities through diverse musical performances. The organization comprises various ensembles, including a jazz band, marching band, the pep band Reign City Riot and much more.
