SUMMARY:Indigenous Walking Tour – Celebrate Indigenous People’s Day
DESCRIPTION:The Indigenous Walking Tour highlights Coast Salish history\, art\, and activism through seven stops across the University of Washington Campus. It was created by Owen Oliver ’21 to explore what it means to increase visibility\, accountability\, and connection to place on campus.   \n\n\n\nRead more about the Indigenous Walking Tour. \n\n\n\nAbout Owen Oliver \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOwen comes from the people of the Lower Columbia River\, Salish Sea\, and Southwest Pueblos. He is an enrolled member of the Quinault Indian Nation. He grew up in Seattle where he graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in American Indian Studies and Political Science. Owen has served as a board member for the Center for Native American Youth\, ASUW Shell House Fundraising Campaign\, and Center for American Indian and Indigenous Studies at UW.  \n\n\n\nNow\, Owen works as the Director of Arts and Culture at Headwater People Consulting\, an Indigenous-owned and operated firm in Seattle Washington. DESCRIPTION:Location: Virtual  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis free\, one-day virtual symposium will explore common myths and misinformation surrounding women’s health while highlighting evidence-informed\, integrative approaches to health and well-being across the lifespan. \n\n\n\nThrough expert presentations\, live discussions\, and experiential sessions\, participants will learn about topics including cardiovascular and brain health\, hormonal changes\, pelvic and vaginal health\, chronic conditions\, health disparities\, and breast cancer prevention and recovery. \n\n\n\nThe symposium is presented by the Osher Collaborative for Integrative Health\, a network of 11 academic health centers working together to advance integrative health through research\, education\, and clinical care. \n\n\n\nThis event is chaired by Dr. Debra Bell\, Co-director of Education at the University of Washington Osher Center and a long-time Family Medicine Physician at UW Medicine.
