This year’s theme: “More Than a Mammogram – It’s All Connected: The Body\, The System & The Fight to Thrive.” \n\n\n\nJoin in community for an empowering afternoon of connection\, education\, and action as we fight breast cancer together.With 30 years of service\, Cierra Sisters is a trusted nonprofit founded by the late Bridgette Hempstead. They are dedicated to educating\, empowering\, and uplifting the black community and the medically underserved with life savings breast cancer knowledge by breaking the cycle of fear through education\, advocacy and access to care. They walk alongside women as they navigate their journey with strength and dignity. \n\n\n\nInterested in volunteering at this event? \n\n\n\nThe Office of Healthcare Equity will be present at this event and would be grateful to have University of Washington Medicine and Health Sciences students\, faculty\, or staff represent their departments or work. SUMMARY:Centering Women's Health: Integrative Approaches for Lifelong Well-being
DESCRIPTION:Location: Virtual  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis free\, one-day virtual symposium will explore common myths and misinformation surrounding women’s health while highlighting evidence-informed\, integrative approaches to health and well-being across the lifespan. \n\n\n\nThrough expert presentations\, live discussions\, and experiential sessions\, participants will learn about topics including cardiovascular and brain health\, hormonal changes\, pelvic and vaginal health\, chronic conditions\, health disparities\, and breast cancer prevention and recovery. \n\n\n\nThe symposium is presented by the Osher Collaborative for Integrative Health\, a network of 11 academic health centers working together to advance integrative health through research\, education\, and clinical care. \n\n\n\nThis event is chaired by Dr. Debra Bell\, Co-director of Education at the University of Washington Osher Center and a long-time Family Medicine Physician at UW Medicine.
