Understanding ADHD in Children and Adults (UW Net ID required)

Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a common neurodevelopmental disorder that usually begins in childhood but can be diagnosed at any age. It’s often characterized by attention problems as well as overactivity and impulsivity.
Although ADHD is most commonly noted in children, about 10 million adults in the United States are also known to be living with the condition. The symptoms often change over time and may be less obvious in adults, but the impact they have on your life can continue.
Researchers at the University of Washington are learning more about the connection between ADHD and genetics. Dr. Mark Stein, a lead ADHD researcher, will present in this session about the impact of ADHD on children and share valuable insights into treatment approaches. Dr. Stein will also highlight lessons learned from treating parents and adults with ADHD.

Meet the Speaker
Dr. Mark A. Stein is a Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and Pediatrics at the University of Washington. He serves as an Investigator at the Children’s Research Center and is the director of the Program to Enhance Attention, Regulation, and Learning (PEARL Clinic) at Seattle Children’s Hospital.
With over a decade of experience, Dr. Stein’s clinical and research contributions in ADHD have earned him accolades, including the Lifetime Achievement Award from Children and Adults with ADHD (CHADD).
