LSS Surgical Symposium on Latino Health
May 17 – May 19
We are excited to announce the UW Department of Surgery will be hosting the Latino Surgical Society (LSS) Annual Meeting take place from May 17th to May 20th, 2024, at the University of Washington Health Education Building in Seattle, WA.
The Latino Surgical Society Annual Meeting brings together a diverse and dynamic group of healthcare professionals, including 80 surgeons, 20 residents, and 30 medical students of Latine descent from around the country and internationally. This event serves as a vital platform for networking, collaboration, and professional development within the Latino surgical community. Members of our diversity council and LSS planning committee have organized an amazing meeting that highlights scientific excellence of faculty and residents from programs across the U.S. including Puerto Rico, emerging issues in Latino health as explained by our Center for Latino Health here at UW and our institutional efforts. This annual meeting will host a special presentation by our very own Dr. Carlos Pellegrini, acknowledging his contributions to Latine surgeons both here in the United States and around the world.
As an institutional member of Latino Surgical Society, as well as numerous other affinity organizations, our department of surgery is a privileged to host and highlight the impacts on surgeons of all backgrounds and support the ongoing efforts to improve support and enhance diverse representation in surgery. We encourage everyone within our department and the entire School of Medicine community to register to attend the conference here: https://www.latinosurgicalsociety.org/lss-symposium-on-latino-health-2024. There are reduced rates for registration for medical students and residents. We look forward to seeing you all at an amazing Latino Surgical Society Annual Meeting.
