Orange Shirt Day March and Rally – Sept 30th
September 30, 2023 @ 11:00 am – 3:00 pm
Info from Facebook Event Page:
September 30 is a day to protest in solidarity with First Nations Tribes, ‘Orange Shirt Day’. We honor and remember the indigenous children who were stolen from their families by Canadian and United States governments in an attempt to erase indigenous traditions, languages, land and territories. We will honor our survivors and bring public awareness of the generational trauma these genocidal and racist policies inflicted upon indigenous people.
Meet at the Seattle Federal Office Building to peacefully march to Westlake Center Park, where the rally will take place. We will host speakers, including Matthew Warbonnet (Keynote Speaker/Survivor), share songs and prayers, have youth chant leaders from CLEARSKY, and demand acknowledgement of the atrocities these assimilative policies inflicted upon Indigenous peoples and command these shameful institutions to find our murdered, buried and lost indigenous ancestor children and return them home.
There is no pride in genocide! Find them all! Bring them home!
Wear your Orange Shirt! Bring your voice, rattles, and drums, and wear your regalia!
This grassroots event is co-sponsored by 350 Seattle & Mazaska Talks and lead by indigenous local activists. All allies and the general public are welcome.
