Programs under the Center for Workforce Inclusion and Healthcare System Equity (WIHSE)
Open to all students, WIHSE strives for equitable representation of educationally and economically under resourced students in health professional and allied health schools locally and nationally.
UDOC is a free six week summer education program (three weeks virtual and three weeks in-person on campus) that aims to foster, affirm, and encourage high school juniors interested in health careers. UDOC runs from June 23rd – August 1st 2025 on the University of Washington Seattle campus (in-person, depending on COVID-19 University of Washington and CDC guidance.)

Grades K-12
Doctor for A Day (DFAD) is a monthly academy that exposes K-12 youth to health careers through hands-on activities. DFAD partners with clinical departments, school districts and non-profits to hold workshops led by medical students as near peer mentors bringing healthcare professionals to K-12 youth to serve as mentors and role models. DFAD serves over 500 students per academic year. Learn more about Doctor for a Day.
SHPEP is an intensive 6-week summer program open to freshman and sophomore college students at the undergraduate and community college level. Students from the Pacific Northwest region, community colleges and tribal colleges are especially encouraged to apply. The program offers students academic and clinic experiences that expose them to medicine, public health and dentistry.
