Lunar New Year Celebration at Westlake Park

Celebrate the Lunar New Year, the Year of the Snake, with a lion dance performance featuring the Mak Fai Kung Fu Dragon & Lion Dance Association. According to tradition, the dance brings good luck and good fortune for the coming year.

Festivities in Westlake Park will also include giveaways of red envelopes and free citrus inspired specialty drinks and sweet treats (while supplies last). The fun starts at 11 a.m. and the dance starts at noon.

An additional lion dance performance will take place at First Avenue and Pike Street starting at 1 p.m.

Phinney Neighborhood Association Lunar New Year

Join us for our third Lunar New Year celebration to celebrate the beginning of year of the Snake! Enjoy free arts and crafts, paper lantern decorating ($5), LQ Lion Dancers, a bake sale, food trucks and a marketplace representing local Asian small businesses and makers. Due to popular demand, the Lion Dancers will be performing twice! Once at 2 pm and 3 pm, happening in the Brick Building Community Hall.

 In order to make activities happening in both buildings accessible to all, we will be operating a shuttle van between the buildings throughout the event.

Seattle Asian Art Museum Lunar New Year Family Festival

Ring in the Year of the Wood Snake with SAM’s annual Lunar New Year Family Festival at the Seattle Asian Art Museum! Enjoy live lion dances, drop-in art activities with local artists, and a storytime inspired by the holiday.

Kick off the new year with an unforgettable lion dance, spreading joy, happiness, and blessings of good health for the year ahead presented by the Lieu Quan Lion Dance team! This indoor performance is ideal for families with young children and has a limited capacity. A total of 200 wristbands will be handed out starting at 10:30 am the day of the event. There will be an outdoor lion dance at 1 pm in front of the museum that is open to all with no wristbands required.

Discover healing through movement with Seattle School of Chen Style Taijiquan

Experience a live illustrated storytime and craft with artist, Julie Kim inspired by the holiday.

Bring a wood snake to life by contributing to a community sculpture designed by local artists, Monyee Chau and Jae Eun Kim that will be displayed at the museum for all to see.

Dumplings, edamame, non-alcoholic, and alcoholic beverages available for purchase from Shooby Doo Catering.

While food, drinks, and large backpacks are not permitted in the galleries, we encourage all families to bring personal snacks and beverages to enjoy throughout the museum’s lower level. All personal belongings can be stored in the self-serve lockers on a first-come, first-served basis.

2025 Year of the Snake

The Lunar New Year marks the first new moon of the lunar calendar and is derived from 12 full cycles of the moon. It is celebrated by many Asian communities including Chinese, Korean and Vietnamese. There are 12 Chinese zodiac animals and one is associated with each 12-year cycle. 2025 is the Year of the Snake.

Our celebration will take place at Bellevue Square on Saturday, January 25.
Join us for live performances, crafts, displays and more.

Celebrate the Year of the Snake with wishes for good fortune and good health. Gather with family and friends to celebrate traditions during this season.
